RINK Testify Performance introduces Dr. Jeff Leiter as Director of Sport Science and Performance
Dr. Jeff Leiter’s passion for the game of hockey started at a young age since his father played over 15 seasons in the NHL. That passion grew from playing high level hockey at a semi-professional level to earning his PhD from the Department of Human Anatomy and Cell Science as well as a Master of Science in Sport Biomechanics. Over the past 10 years, Dr. Leiter, was a part of the prominent sports medicine team at Pan Am Clinic and worked across a variety of research streams including orthopaedic sports medicine, human performance and concussion. He is currently a sport-science consultant for various NHL teams and hockey equipment companies. Now, as Director of Sports Science and Performance at Testify Performance, he gets to combine his love for hockey and sport with his knowledge of the human body.
Testify Performance will be expanding its service offering from on and off ice testing to a full-service facility offering hockey, sport-specific, team and lifestyle training. The integration of cutting-edge sport science research into training programs will maximize the development of any player. “A lot of people are scared by numbers, that they will be used in a punitive way, we want to use these numbers to get you going in the direction that is right for you. We want to make you the best version of yourself, whether it is on or off the ice.” says Dr. Jeff Leiter, Director of Sports Science and Performance. “This data can show us what to work on, what is or isn’t working, and help us individualize development for each athlete and client.”
The Rink Training Centre will be opening a brand-new state of the art training facility coming Spring 2019 just off of McGilvery Blvd. This 95,000 sq. ft. facility will be one of the best fully integrated specialized hockey training centres in Canada and feature a 7,000 sq. ft. gym which Dr. Leiter will soon call home.
